Why do I have to put a sticker with an airbag safety warning on a newly installed windscreen?

Life-saving airbags have become a standard equipment on all modern vehicles. For cars with a passenger airbag law regulations apply that every auto glass installer should know. But for all that many installers do not put the small stickers on the glass - is this ignorance or parsimony?

German StVZO says in §35a, sentence 8 in round words: A pictograph must warn against the use of rearward facing baby car seats. Is this warning not visible when the front passenger's door is closed, a durable indication shall be visible while from the passenger seat's position.

As the minimum diameter of the pictograph is defined with 6 cm it can easily ruin the ambiance of a nice vehicle. For that reason many car manufacturers have put it in a place where it is not visible when the doors are closed. In all these cars you will find an unobstrusive label on the inside of the windscreen to comply with regulations. When exchanging a windscreen the label should be put on the new glass without fail. If this safety warning is missing the driver can be punished with a fine! If a personal injury accident happens and the auto glass installer forgot to put the sticker on the windscreen, he can run into serious trouble.
